MGLFF is delighted to present, for the third consecutive year, the Fifth Annual PlanetOut.com Short Movie Awards, presented by and hosted in collaboration with Planet Out .com. LGBT short films were eligible to compete for cash awards in 5 categories, with one film judged as the Grand Prize Winner. For the first time this year, the Planet Out shorts were judged by industry professionals in Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco. Lessons are delivered, sometimes with shocking consequences, in these tales of first crushes, septuagenarian friendship, family celebrations, delving in the underworld, fairytale romance and standing up for yourself.

Directors Q, Allan Brocka, Steve Hutton, Tony Osso and Lisa Thrasher from POWERUP will attend the screenings to accept their awards. POWERUP, a Los-Angeles based organization which nurtures lesbian filmmakers, have for the third consecutive year won the PlanetOut.com Grand Prize Award for best short film. We are delighted to present an encore screening of POWERUP's Grand Prize Winning films Stuck (2002) and D.E.B.S.(2003) (the feature length version is our Closing Night Gala presentation) before we unveil The Little Black Boot, our 2004 Grand Prize Winner.
