Elin hangs with the in-crowd, popular and pretty, though frustrated with her rather conventional friends and her mindlessly boy-crazed sister.  Agnes is the bookish outsider.  Isolated in the conservative small town her family has moved to only the previous year, Agnes finds herself depressingly friendless on her sixteenth birthday.  And secretly in love, with the apparently unattainable Elin, confiding all to her computer in no uncertain terms.  Not just your average tale of teens in love and lust, this is a daring and hilariously fresh lesbian coming-of-age film.  While Agnes is clearly the outsider, she is also startlingly confident in her sexuality.  And while Elin is clearly the insider, she has the most to learn about her own desire, and the biggest leap to make in befriending Agnes (and ditching her pleasant but boring boyfriend).  Together these two girls make a delightful pair, the requited high school crush all of us wished had happened for us. Eventually they dare to go where none of their classmates have gone before, even if it simply means attempting to hitch a ride together into the big city, or grabbing a kiss in the unlikeliest of places.   In Swedish with English subtitles.
