Gender, roles, love and sex get a thorough going over in these two beautifully made, entertaining, thought-provoking and sometimes erotic lesbian documentaries.

Scent uVa Butch, Directed by Shoshana Rosenfeld, United States, FLORIDA PREMIERE
Every gay girl can identify with at least one of the delightfully insightful lesbians in this candid homage to the butch in all of us.  This fast-paced and sharply constructed look into the push and pull of the top-bottom, boy-girl, butch-femme dynamic touches lightheartedly upon a subject close to our hearts.  From the woman who models herself on Clark Kent to the hilarious lesson in how to create just the right package look with a strap-on, Scent uVa  Butch  pulls no punches.  Recommended for adult audiences only.

(left to right) Allison Gallant
and Karen Everett
My Femme Divine, Directed by Karen Everett, United States, FLORIDA PREMIERE
Filmmaker Karen Everett was devastated by the end of a passionate affair, and out of that grief she crafted My Femme Divine, a paean not only to her lost love but to femme women everywhere.  Part personal memoir and part documentary, the arc of the failed romance becomes a framework for exploring the butch/femme mystique.  Poetic and contemplative, sexy and funny, visually arresting and incredibly creative, the film includes commentary from a wide range of women.  Ultimately it tells a universal tale:  one of falling in love, losing control and finding the divine wholeness inside oneself.

3:00 PM Screening only at Regal South Beach Cinema $10
Complete afternoon package of She Ain't No Lady,  Divinely Female, Boldly Butch, plus Ladies Who Lunch $25
