Megan's popular, pretty, dates the captain of the football team (though she's not too keen on his slobbering kisses) - and she's a cheerleader.  One day, in an intervention initiated by her Christian fundamentalist parents and led by a very warped RuPaulin his male persona, she is whisked off to True Directions, a rehab camp for homo teens.  They think she's a lesbian, but Megan has no real clue herself.  In the best tradition of same-sex prison movies, war movies and not to mention John Waters movies, the camp proves to be the best place for Megan to findherself.  Thrown in with a mix of gay boys and girls in various stages of reform or rebellion, Megan experiences the surrealistic and comic rigors of queer conversion as practiced by a scary Cathy Moriarty (picture Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest) and her able assistant, the aforementioned RuPaul.  With a simmering romance between Megan and her new-found (girl) friend Graham, we know there's going to be trouble, steamy sex and just maybe a happy ending in store.  This is an hilarious satire that also provides sharp social commentary about the very real issues facing gay teens.  A Sundance Film Festival 2000 selection.

7:00 PM Screening at the Regal Cinema $10
